Black Fin Tuna
Fishing in the Florida Keys

Black Fin Tuna can be caught offshore twelve months out of the year in the Florida Keys.

One of our favorite spots is the Marathon Hump, Islamorada Hump, or any other sea mounds.

Preferred method of catching black fin tuna is trolling artificial baits, at least 250 feet behind the boat, because black fin are very "boat shy"; you do not want to run through the fish school because the fish will sound.

Preferred colors of artificial trolling lures are black and red, pink and white, red and silver.  Also the larger black fin can be caught on rigged ballyhoo.  Captain Bob's preferred skirt is a pink and white SeaWitch with a 3/4 ounce lead head to pull the baits down 3-4 feet below the surface.
